PMVC joins forces with Plymouth Studio School for Open Event

Plymouth Mayflower Volleyball Club will be joining forces with Plymouth Studio School this Saturday (18 July) to stage a Volleyball Go Spike event for all the family at the University of St Mark & St John from 10am – 1pm..

There will a range of competitions, prizes and drop-in sessions for children, teenagers and the whole family, including Volleyball England’s Go Spike speed Cage to let you test just how hard you can hit the ball. Sessions will be indoor and outdoor dependent on weather.

The weekend is part of PMVC’s drive to help recruit 11,000 new players nationally to the sport and to promote its new Elite Volleyball Academy which it recently launched with the new Plymouth Studio School.

The Elite Volleyball Academy, which is open to 14 – 16 year olds who sign up for Plymouth Studio School, will give talented junior players a chance to combine academic studies with professional coaching, strength and conditioning support and access to national and regional competitions and coaching qualifications.

Luis Stansbury, will be one of the first top volleyball players to be joining Plymouth Studio School this September to help forge his career in the sport and he will play for PMVC’s SouthWest Mens Squad who will play in the Mens National Cup competition as well. He will also be representing the SW for the 3rd year running for the Under 17 Boys Squad competing in the 2016 Inter Regional Championships.

The Go Spike event, which runs from 10am – 1pm will run alongside a Plymouth Studio School Open Day where students looking for a career in sport, tourism or events to  will get a chance to find out more and meet the teachers – including Olympic sports performance coach Jon Rhodes.Limited places for September 2015 and 2016 are still available.

Indoor King or Queen of the court competition 12pm (Juniors Y10 and Y12 only) with Prizes

Go Spike Speed Cage competition - test your spike! Under 11s, Under 18s, Overs 18s Boys and Girls categories, prizes to the top spikers!
