Match Weekend Preview - 5th October
Posted by Nobody on 3 October 2014
This coming weekend sees 2 of our 4 regional teams start their competitive campaigns.
PMVC Men start their SW League campaign against Exeter University and City of Bristol At Exeter University Sports Park. The squad travelling up sees a few new faces lining up with the team that impressed last season with their best League campaign finishing joint 3rd.
Head Coach Steve Allen returns along with Club Captain Nick Boorman, Evan Cox, Rob Young, Matt Rhymer and Steffan Shageer. New to the club this season are Pawel Religa, Iain Jenkins and Tim Latcham.
Steve is confident that we have a competitive side this season and hopes that we may do even better than last year. The opposition can both field strong teams - City of Bristol who were also joint 3rd with PMVC can field either strong or developmental sides. Exeter University's form can be inconsistent too and it will depend on who is available for them.
PMVC Skills Group Drakes also have their first match of the season in EDVA Division 2 against Exeter University 1 on Sunday. The game will be played at Plymstock School Sports Centre and the warm up will start at 6pm.
Captain Dan Tapson returns to lead his team for the new season and despite being currently sidelined with an injury, will be there to support the new look team in their first game. Familiar players to the EDVA return with Luke Allen Gdanitz, Kyle White, Victoria Wilkins, Ben Head and Andy Chadwick. New faces to the competition include Clare Crowther, Chelsea Mitchell, Chloe Smart, Lara Sowden and Sofia Pereira.
The team is buoyed by news of a new kit sponsorship deal with Skills Group to support them for the next 3 seasons (more on this to follow). The unveiling of the new kit will be before the game.
PMVC are confident that Skills Group Drakes are back with a new name, a new sponsor and renewed focus on developing players towards SW level competition whilst still remaining a competitive team in the mixed league.
Good luck to both teams and lookout for the match reports to see how they get on.
Go PMVC!
