PMVC Skills Group Drakes

PMVC Skills Group Drakes had their first match of the season in Exeter & District Volleyball Association's Division 2 against Exeter University 1 on 5th October. The game took place at Plymstock School Sports Centre.

Captain Dan Tapson was there to support the new look team in their first game despite being currently side-lined with an injury. The team was also buoyed by the unveiling of their new kit as part of a new sponsorship deal with Skills Group.

PMVC Skills Group Drakes won the match emphatically against a full strength Exeter University Squad. The Plymouth Team got into an early rhythm with junior setter Victoria Wilkins (16) calling the attacks whilst serving up a storm to get PMVC in front winning the first set. Exeter University were no pushover as they upped their game throughout the duration of the match but so too did Drakes. The Men playing for PMVC have all had experience playing Regional level volleyball before whilst the three other Ladies players were making their EDVA Debut (S, Pereira, L. Sowden & C. Mitchell). The team worked cohesively and routed their opponents to take all 5 sets 25-15, 25-13, 25-17, 25-17, 15-12 with Middle hitter Andy Chadwick as MVP.

It was a great start for Drakes in their first competitive match of the season with their next games against Taunton Panthers on 12th October before their rematch with Exeter University 1 on the 19th.

(Please note: Regarding the SW Mens fixtures that was supposed to take place on 5th October, there were issues with the venue and the matches against Exeter Uni Men and City of Bristol are being rescheduled)
