Exeter Challenge Results

PMVC Men played against Some of the best teams in the southwest and could only improve on last season after coming 12th in the competition. This time around saw us field a more developmental side but they had some impressive victories against strong opponents and just missed the cut for the Semi Finals by 1 point! They lost in the 5th/6th playoff against Yeovil.
The Ladies were depleted from their squad due to a few unavailable players and an unfortunate accident ruling Lara Sowden out for a while (Get well soon Lara!) - This created an opportunity for the Junior Academy players from The Ivybridge Tigers Squad to play in their first Exeter Challenge event. Chloe Burns played as setter and Offset and Rosy Stanesby as Libero. With such a young squad there wasnt much pressure and as a consequence, PMVC were very relaxed in their progress through the tournament and into the Semi Finals. There they faced SW League Winners Yeovil Ladies and were victorious which placed them in their 3rd successive final at the EC.
Despite beating Torexe Topcats in the rounds, they were unable to repeat the feat in the Final as they finished as Runner Up again but its bodes well for the future with such rising junior talent as they venture onto the National Stage next season.
