Match Report |
Jesters were fielding a side with 4 new players season due to injury and limits on squad due to other commitments. Stand in Captain, Andrew Potter, Ben Allen Gdanitz and rising junior talent, Matt Boorer (making his EDVA debut).
The game was played with great spirit and sportsmanship by both sides. Hunters were quick out of the blocks in the 1st set with big middle Joel Roberts blocking everything in sight and despite it being level on points at 8-8, they posted a lead which Jesters couldn't claw back in time. 19-25.
The 2nd set saw the competition rise a notch and Andy Curno came on for the jesters to set. With the Hunters ready to wrap up the set, Jesters pulled it back to pip them at the post and draw it level. 26-24.
The 3rd set saw some brilliant play from both sides yet again. amazing picks and a true advert for keeping the ball flying. Hunters gained their revenge as Jesters had set point only for Wegner to serve them towards the set win. 24-26
In the 4th, Jesters started to flag and start to make some errors. Hunters kept the pressure on despite a late comeback and seal the win by taking an unassailable 3-1 game win. 20-25
The final saw the hunters continue their good form and charge up the league table despite Jesters throwing everything at them in the hope for a consolation set win. 10-15
Hugely enjoyable to play and watch and deserving MVPs in Tapson and Bulwan for playing some great volleyball. Looking forward to the return leg in the new year. |
