Match Report

Another victory for the PMVC Pirates today! A strong squad turned up into 'the freezer' in Plymstock. Parenthood has had a positive affect on Steffan Shageer volleyball and he had continuous presence as a solid defensive player... It shocked us too! He claims to have hit a peach of a line hit, but that is still awaiting confirmation. However, if this hit did occur, then it must have been down to the pin point setting of the team alcoholic Nick Boorman. Every player had a grea...t supply of sets, some of which were jump sets Steve...! Now, the middles weren't allowing the outsides all the fun, with the ginger ninja Kyle White definitely putting in a strong shout for a man of match nomination! Not only did he sprawl out for some great defence, but made the net his own (not highlighting a net touch there), but making the block a solid force! He was joined in this by the keeno, Rob Young who won numerous one on ones, but a lot of defence was controlled with his feet, taking volleyball into the modern era! His undoing was a couple of 'really good serves' which struggled to reach the net. Daniel Sarnik wouldn't stop talking for the whole match however this wouldn't put him off putting the ball up to 2 and half on a regular basis. He made sure that I wasn't anywhere near the back court defence and hauled me off court! Finally, the man of the match, the left handed dodgeball dynamo, Chris Harper! He made some unbelieveable pick ups, released the left arm and caused havoc all game! This wasn't why he was man of the match though in my opinion. His commitment to the new celebration moves, along with Nick Boorman made our team unity something to be feared! A solid 5-0 victory!

Steve Allen, future considerations. Shag as a setter? Kyle as libero? Team sessions for point celebrations?
