Taunton had a good start to the 2015/16 season with a fairly experienced team including only one new club player. However Drakes much younger team did not make it easy for Taunton, saving first balls and good covering of the court.
The match started well with both teams playing good but careful volleyball, with good services especially from Taunton’s Pam Jones.
In the second set Drakes unfortunately lost their bearing a little bit, but managed to keep their heads up and come back much stronger in the third set. By then, both teams played well with long rallies, but dominated by strong hitting from Taunton’s Kier Newman and new player Armands Kupcs.
In the end Taunton’s experience paid off with a 5 to 0 win.
