Match Report | The game against Yeovil was more challenging as they were the in form team so far this season. PMVC opted for the same line-up as in their first game as Yeovil took an early lead by picking out holes in Plymouth’s defence. After a quick tactical timeout by Capt Kate Wilkins, our Ladies turned the match around, by filling the gaps and punishing Yeovil with their powerful attacking display. In the second set Yeovil still didn’t have an answer to PMVC’s attack. However, Sarah Salt picked up a leg injury which caused PMVC to adapt their lineup with Van Cumer moving into the middle and Leeds coming from the bench to attack through 4. PMVC rallied to win the second set with Capt Wilkins and Curtis snuffing out Yeovils attack with some fine blocking. In the 3rd, PMVC dominated through their service game and Yeovil’s unbeaten streak was over at the hands of the defending league champions. Final set scores were 3-0 (25-21, 25-13, 25-21) with Van Cumer getting an MVP nomination on her debut for her versatility on court and dominant hitting. Kate Wilkins was impressed with the teams resolve. “With so many changes from last year’s team, it’s great to see us knuckle down and still dominate teams. Despite our loss to Beach Academy last month, I think our team may even be stronger than last season. We’re all excited for our next game on 16th November. The only misfortune was Sarah picking up an injury in her return to volleyball after 3 years”. Well done to the Ladies and we all wish Sarah Salt a speedy recovery and we hope to see you back on court soon! |
