Match Report |
When they say its a game of two halves, they must have been talking about this game. In the first set, PMVC and Torexe slugged it out in an even contest with the lead yo-yoing between the two sides. PMVC narrowly took the advantage through Griffiths wiley serving 27-25.
The Second set saw veteran Melville Brown and rising Junior player Brentnall come off the bench as PMVC took a healthy lead thanks to Brentnalls steady run of 9 serves. With Torexe unable to score any points on their serve PMVC took a 2 set advantage with the set 25-17.
In the 3rd set, Torexe kept their nose in front throughout the set and Drakes who had mixed things up a bit were unable to draw level as the set went to the away side, 25-21.
More nerves at play as Torexe dominated the 4th set despite Offsetter Head and captain Allen Gdanitz' attacking play and the game went to a deciding set.
Finally, PMVC were able to keep their noses in front as middle player white who was rested for the previous set came back to swat away everything in sight and earn the MVP vote. Drakes won 15-10 with Torexes Brendon Jiang picking up the MVP for the away side.
A strong end to the season for PMVC and a nicely contested match saw the EDVA Div 2 season come to a close. Well done all who played.
